RICHMOND, Va. – Drexel's Amaris Baker was named First Team All-CAA in a vote by the league's coaches. It is the first time that the senior has been named to a postseason team. Deja Evans was also named to the CAA's All-Defensive team.
Baker led the conference in scoring after tallying 17.1 points per game this season. The senior finished the regular season scoring double-digits in 25 of Drexel's 28 games. Baker scored 20 or more points 10 times and even touched a career-high 33 points in Drexel's game versus North Carolina A&T. The Philadelphia native, who averages 37.5 minutes per game, scored a career-high 479 points this season, which ranks second in the league to the Player of the Year, Taryn Barbot.
Deja Evans earned a nod on the All-Defensive team after finishing the season with 60 blocks. The sophomore finished the season strong, scoring double digits in five of Drexel six final regular season games and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds against Campbell on March 2. In the final six games of the season, the first-year CAA player finished with 85 points, 48 rebounds and 11 blocks. Evans has made her mark on the program in just 28 games. The Conshohocken native tied a single-game program record nine blocks on Nov. 23 against Temple. Then, against Campbell on March 2, the forward blocked five shots and joined Drexel's all-time blocks list with 60.
Drexel clinched a double-bye in the CAA tournament after finishing as the fourth seed and will not start tournament play until Friday at 2:30 p.m. While the Dragons know when they are playing, it is undetermined who they will face. It will either be Hampton, Stony Brook or Monmouth.
