Drexel's CAA Title Run Ends in Semifinals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated in the semifinals of the Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday afternoon by William & Mary, 76-52.
BY THE NUMBERS
Amaris Baker scored a team-high 20 points on eight field goals. The senior also hit two treys, grabbed four rebounds and added five assists.
Deja Evans finished the game with her fourth double-double of the season. The sophomore scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel and William & Mary battled to a 19-18 quarter, in favor of the Dragons, who made seven field goals in the frame. The Dragons managed to draw five fouls and go 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. Baker led the Dragons in scoring after contributing nine points on 3-for-5 shooting. The senior also made a trey and went 2-for-3 from the free throw line.
It was all William & Mary in the first half of the second quarter. The Tribe started the quarter with a 14-2 run over 5:10. After the media timeout, Drexel went on a 6-0 run to end the half, trailing William & Mary by five. The Dragons struggled with shooting in the frame, only shooting 4-for-16. The Dragons were 0-for-6 from long distance. Evans scored eight points in the second quarter and ended the half with 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Tribe outscored the Dragons 22-10 in the third and shot 9-for-15 in the frame. Evans grabbed three rebounds to secure her third double-double of the season. William & Mary ended the frame with a 56-39 lead.
William & Mary scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory against Drexel, who was held to 15 points in the frame.

The Dragons end the season with a 17-13 record and 13-7 in conference play. It is the 11th straight season that the Dragons finished with a winning record.
