
Qasim Named to Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Men’s At-Large Team

PHILADELPHIA- Haris Qasim of the Drexel women's squash team was named to the 2024-25 Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Men's At-Large Team, as announced on Wednesday.
To qualify for Academic All-Area honors, a student-athlete must be in their second year or above and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. The team is selected through a vote by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
A senior leader for the Drexel men's squash team, Haris Qasim turned in a strong season at the top of the lineup. He competed in 12 matches, all at the No. 1 position, helping the Dragons finish No. 8 in the final CSA rankings and secure the Holley Cup with a win over No. 5 Virginia. Qasim earned key victories over several top-ranked opponents, including then-No. 2 Yale, No. 9 Cornell, No. 13 Franklin & Marshall, and No. 15 Rochester, and advanced to the second round of the CSA Individual Championships. Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, he is majoring in Finance and holds a 3.53 GPA.
