
Men’s Rowing Advances Eight Boats to Grand Finals at Dad Vail Regatta

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The No. 22 Drexel men's rowing team had all eight boats advance to the Grand Finals on the first day of the 86th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta. The Dragons collected two wins in semi-final races, with the 2nd varsity 8+ and varsity 4+ earning victories.
The 2nd varsity 8+ team had the closest finish of the day. Rowing in Sandra Lee Sheller II, Luke Joseph (Coxswain), Ben Werber (Stroke), Willem Kirsch, Braeden Montgomery, Jono Andersson, Zach Key, Aidan Ionescu, John Little, and Andrew Manns (Bow) finished with a time of 5:52.805. The Dragons just edged out La Salle by 1/10 of a second at the line, after the Explorers made a late charge in the final 500 meters.
The varsity 4+ had a trouble-free race, taking first place in Go Roe. Gustavo Lezama (Coxswain), Liam Strain (Stroke), Filip Milanovic, Gavin Roe, and Jack Brennan (Bow) came home with a time of 6:44.848, nearly four seconds ahead of Washington College.
The varsity 8+, 2nd varsity 4+, V2- A and B all finished in second place. The 3rd varsity 8+ had the best time in the time trial at 5:50.782.
The varsity 8+ will attempt to win their fourth straight gold medal in tomorrow's Grand Final. The Dragons have also won the men's title three consecutive seasons. Saturday's races will now begin at 7:16.
