RICHMOND, Va. – Drexel's Griffin Mitchell has been named one of the 20 recipients of the prestigious CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award for the 2024-25 academic year.
The award mimics the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award in men's and women's basketball. One student-athlete, who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements, was selected in each of the other sports sponsored by the Conference. Nominees must be at the junior, senior or graduate academic level. After evaluating the nominees, the CAA's Faculty Athletic Representatives voted on the winners.
Mitchell, a member of the Drexel golf team, compiled a 3.87 GPA while earning a bachelor's degree in finance and recently completed a master's degree in business administration. A 13-time Dean's List member, he made the CSC Academic All-District team and has participated in a variety of community service initiatives. On the course, Mitchell was second on the team with a 73.3 scoring average this season and was selected to the All-CAA second team for the second time. He finished second at the CAA Men's Golf Championship to garner all-tournament accolades and also made the All-Northeast Region team.
