HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragon's top-ranked offense wasted no time in finding the back of the net. Drexel would earn a penalty corner just 22 seconds into the game. Valentine Van Hellemont would insert for the Dragons; Van Hellemont would find Pili Lemoine, who left the ball for Nicole Enslin. Enslin would fire from the top of the circle to give the Dragons a quick 1-0 lead. Drexel would keep the pressure on the Explorers, earning another penalty corner one minute later. After a Fleur Hamers strike, Lemoine would find the ball off a rebound before she fired to the back of the cage, giving the Dragons a 2-0 lead. Lemoine would score again before the first quarter was over as Van Helllemont would dribble along the end line before finding Lemoine in the middle of the circle, who would put Drexel up 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Dragon's explosive offense would keep churning in the second quarter as Lily Haag would attack the ball in the circle off a deflected shot; Haag would take the ball around the keeper before striking the ball to give the Dragons a 4-0 lead. With just over two minutes remaining, the Dragons would strike again. Van Hellemont would dribble along the endline before hitting Hamers, who, with her back facing the goal, struck the ball between her legs and past the keeper for her first goal of the day.
The Explorers would get on the board with 3 minutes left. Matilda Diedrichsen dribbled into the circle and pushed it past the goalie, as La Salle would cut the lead to 5-1. The Dragons would respond quickly as less than a minute later, Herlocher would find the back of the cage off a penalty corner, the first of her career. Both Van Hellemont and Ava Trexler assisted Herlocher's goal.
La Salle would score twice in the final frame, scoring at the beginning of the quarter off of a deflected penalty corner. Natalie Wilson would find the back of the goal for the Explorers. With five minutes remaining in the game, La Salle was awarded a penalty stroke. Darian DeLeo stepped to the spot to take it for the Explorers and converted for La Salle's 3rd and final goal of the game.
