PHILADELPHIA – Women's tennis head coach Dave Watts announced the addition of Joe Alessandrini to his staff. Alessandrini joins Drexel after serving as an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams at Alvernia University and a head coach at Twin Valley High School.
"I'm excited to welcome Joe to Drexel Women's Tennis." Watts said. "He brings great energy, a strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to our players. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can build together."
In his first two seasons with the Golden Wolves, the men's team won 12 matches and reached the MAC Championships Semifinals. At Twin Valley, he designed and implemented long-term player development plans focused on technical, tactical, physical and mental performance while fostering a team culture centered on leadership, accountability and sportsmanship.
"I'm incredibly excited and grateful to begin this new chapter with Drexel Women's Tennis," Alessandrini said. "A special thank you to Head Coach Dave Watts and the Drexel Athletics Department for the opportunity to join this program. I'm honored to be part of the Drexel community and excited for the journey ahead. I'm looking forward to working with our student-athletes, helping them grow on and off the court, and contributing to the continued success of Drexel Women's Tennis. Go Dragons!"
Prior to arriving at Drexel, Alessandrini oversaw site and player operations for the Performance Volvo Professional Tennis Tournament in Reading, Pa., for the top 200 touring professionals in the world.
Alessandrini graduated from the University of the Cumberlands with a bachelor's degree in sports coaching and leadership and a minor in psychology. In the community, he served in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 2011.
The Dragons continue their 2026 fall season on Friday, October 9, when they compete in the Cissie Leary Invitational.
