Dragon of the Week: Andreopoulos and Mcgurk

PHILADELPHIA – Theo Andreopoulos and Laine McGurk named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of February 24th–March 2nd.
Theo Andreopoulos, a member of the men's swimming and diving team, was named CAA Swimmer of the Meet as Drexel placed third overall with 667.5 points at the 2026 CAA Championships. The senior captured gold in the 200 backstroke with a school-record and NCAA A standard time of 1:42.00 to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Atlanta. The Thermi, Greece native also earned gold in the 50 free and 100 back while contributing to four first-place relay performances, including the 400 free relay that set a CAA All-Time and CAA Meet record.
Laine McGurk, a member of the women's basketball team, helped Drexel extend its winning stretch with two victories at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The junior scored 26 points in a win over Northeastern, marking her highest scoring performance inside the DAC and second highest of her career. She followed with 18 points, six rebounds and three steals in Drexel's 65-63 overtime victory against North Carolina A&T, scoring 14 of her points in the second half as the Dragons improved to 19-8 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
