Vice President, Director of Athletics Maisha Kelly was named a 2026 Temple University Gallery of Success Inductee. Kelly was the sole recipient from the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, where she earned a master's degree in 2005. Temple's Gallery of Success celebrates outstanding professional achievement with the intent to inspire students toward their future.
Kelly has spearheaded significant facility and program enhancements, including multimillion-dollar upgrades to the Daskalakis Athletic Center, which The Philadelphia Inquirer has recognized as one of the city's premier sports venues. She also played a key role in securing Drexel's inclusion in the Philadelphia Big 5, highlighted by the men's basketball team's 2023 victory over nationally ranked Villanova Wildcats.
Under Kelly's leadership, Drexel has earned five NCAA appearances with an additional 14 individual NCAA Qualifiers. The Dragons have also achieved strong academic success, including Academic All-Americans, a nation-leading wrestling GPA and multiple perfect academic progress rate and graduate success rate scores.
Kelly has expanded departmental infrastructure by hiring a chief of staff and an assistant athletic director for student-athlete development. She has advanced fundraising, secured endowed positions and naming gifts, increased annual giving year after year, renewed an expanded Nike partnership and helped Drexel host major NCAA Championships.
