Dragon of the Week: Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's rowing Varsity 8+ and women's rowing Varsity 4+ named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of May 5th–11th.
The Drexel women's rowing Varsity 4+ captured gold at the 87th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, marking the first gold medal in program history for the event. The crew of Katie O'Donnell (coxswain), Kari Prosperi (stroke), Hazel Danko, Paige Hartshorn and River Trotter (bow) led coast-to-coast on the Cooper River, finishing with a time of 7:28.36, nearly five seconds ahead of Georgetown. The victory helped Drexel secure its third consecutive overall points title.
The Drexel men's rowing Varsity 8+ earned gold at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta to qualify automatically for the IRA National Championships. The crew of Luke Joseph (coxswain), Ben Werber (stroke), Kyle Brown, Matthew Kennedy, Jono Andersson, Justus Bormann, Milo Epstein, Jakob Mauntel and Andrei Malis (bow) crossed the line in 5:37.12, defeating defending champion Temple by 1.23 seconds. The victory helped the Dragons claim their fifth consecutive men's points title while contributing to Drexel's third straight overall points championship.
