Jonathan Oplinger of wrestling finished off a standout career with a remarkable run at the 2009 NCAA Wrestling Championships. He stunned fifth-seeded Dallas Herbst of Wisconsin in the first round then defeated Eric Chine of Kent State. A knee injury hampered his hopes of reaching All-America status, but the performance opened eyes throughout the tournament. Oplinger completed his career with a 109 victories, which is tied for fourth most in Drexel wrestling history. He ranked in the top 10 in school history with 20 career pins, including the fastest pin in school history when he defeated a Campbell wrestler in just 10 seconds. Oplinger graduated with a degree from Drexel in commerce and engineering.
