Laurie Bean, a captain of the women’s lacrosse team, was one of the Dragons’ top scorers. A four-year starter, Bean totaled 71 career goals, which ranked her ninth on Drexel’s all-time goals list and her 88 career points puts her 10th on the all-time points tally. In 2001, she was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. Bean was named to the Dean’s List every term and was given the Commissioner’s Academic Award for a GPA greater than 3.2. She maintained a 4.0 grade-point average since arriving on campus. In 2003, she earned the CAA Scholar Athlete Award. Bean was also named to the 2001-02 Verizon Academic All-America Team and America East Honor Roll. A four-year recipient of the National Hispanic Scholarship Award, she is a member of the National Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma. She graduated with a degree from Drexel in commerce and engineering.
