Hollie Mershon and Amanda Fleischut of field hockey were co-winners after leading their teams to historic seasons. Mershon led the Drexel women's basketball team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and free throws as she led the Dragons to the Women's National Invitation Tournament championship, the first postseason championship captured by any of Philadelphia's six Division I women's programs. Mershon was named the tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring over 20 points per game in the Dragons' march to the title. A First Team All-CAA performer and the league's Dean Ehlers Leadership Award recipient, Mershon stands as the only Dragon in program history to record 1,600 career points and 300 career assists, finishing with 1,601 and 387, respectively. The Malvern, Pa. native's outstanding senior season led the Dragons to a program record 28 victories in 2012-13.
