Donations & Season Tickets FAQ
Dragon Club and Season Tickets FAQ's
Q: Will purchasing a season basketball, wrestling or lacrosse ticket count as a Dragon Club Donation?
No. Because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, athletic ticket purchases, including a seat license or donation requirement, in preferred seating areas are no longer tax-deductible. Drexel will not be requiring seat licenses or donation requirements with season tickets.
Q: Are contributions towards Dragon Club tax-deductible?
Yes. Any contributions to the Dragon Club will still be tax-deductible.
Q: Why are these changes being made?
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act eliminates charitable deductions or any payment to a university when the payer receives the right to purchase tickets or seating at an athletic event.
Q: When does the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act become effective?
The Tax Cuts and Job Act became effective on January 1, 2018.
Q. I made a contribution to the Dragon Club, or I am still planning to make a contribution after January 1, 2018. Will I receive a tax-deduction?
Yes, as long as you make a contribution to the Dragon Club, the gift will be tax-deductible, but will not count towards basketball season tickets.
Q. Are Dragon Club donations still needed for access to President's Suite during basketball games?
Yes, there will still be a donation requirement to access the President's Suite Hospitality for basketball games. See membership benefits chart for levels. A game ticket is required for entrance to all basketball game and wrestling matches.
