- It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to inform the sports medicine staff of all changes to their insurance information.
- All co-payments are the responsibility of the student-athlete.
- Student-athletes’ primary insurance will be billed prior to utilizing Drexel University’s secondary coverage. Student-athletes’ agree to follow all procedures and limitations of their primary insurance carrier.
- The student-athlete is responsible for any referrals or compliance with site capitations when obtaining procedures or appointments. If a student ignores these procedures, any bills incurred will be the responsibility of the student athlete.
- Drexel University’s secondary insurance covers athletic injuries that are the result of participating in University sponsored athletic activities, including team travel. This policy does NOT cover illnesses, medical conditions, or pre-existing injuries.
- Payment by this insurance policy will be limited to $90,000 for medical expenses incurred per incident. All medical bills surpassing this amount will be covered by the NCAA catastrophic insurance policy. All claims must be filed within 60 days after the accident.
- There is a two-year limit (from date of injury) to claiming medical bills. Please note that any claims not processed within the designated claim period will not be covered and become the responsibility of the student athlete.
Drexel University’s secondary insurance is provided by AG Administrators. AG Administrators process and pay bills. Drexel University does NOT directly pay student athlete’s medical bills.
Direction of care, second opinions and ultimately the selection of a provider for care resulting from an athletically-related injury outside of the Drexel University Team Physicians network is the right of the student-athlete. However for continuity of care such decisions must be coordinated through and approved by Drexel University Team Physicians and the athletic training staff. The selection of and eventual care received by a student-athlete from such providers outside of the Drexel University Team Physicians network may not be eligible for benefits to be paid by the Drexel University Athletics secondary insurance policy.
Claim Information
- All medical bills for student-athletes will be sent directly to their home address. The athletic department rarely gets a copy of the bill. It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to provide bills to the Sports Medicine Department.

- Please note AG Administrators can take 6-8 weeks to process claims/bills.
- It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to continue follow up to make sure medical bills are paid in full.
