Former Drexel standout Frantz Massenat joined the DU staff during the summer of 2023. Massenat, a 2014 graduate, returned to Drexel after a nine-year career playing professional basketball in Europe.
"Today we added an exceptional person to our staff," said Spiker upon Massenat's hiring. "We added a winner, a champion and someone who knows the process to find success at Drexel. Frantz is Drexel through and through and we are thrilled to be welcoming a family member back home. He will be a great mentor to our players immediately and a great representative not only of our basketball program, but all of Drexel University."
Massenat played in France during his final professional season in 2022. He spent the majority of his career in Germany, playing six years for three teams. Massenat also played a season in both Italy and Spain.
The Ewing, N.J. native was a four-year starter for the Dragons during his playing days. Massenat started a school record 128 games and scored 1,646 career points, the seventh highest total in school history. He was an All-CAA performer three times, including two First Team All-CAA selections. Massenat averaged 12.9 points and 4.3 assists during his playing days at Drexel and is fourth on Drexel's career assist list with 548. He twice led the CAA in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio. In 2011-12, he was also tops in the league from long-range, shooting .450 from behind the arc, as the Dragons won a school-record 29 games and advanced to the NIT quarterfinals.
Massenat graduated from Drexel with a degree in communication.
