Ben Feld was named Drexel's Head Coach in May of 2016. Feld took over the program after serving as the team's interim head coach prior to his promotion.
Feld has taken the Dragons' program to a new level over the past few seasons. This past fall the Dragons had arguably their best run in school history. Feld's team won all four of their events and the Dragons were the only team in all of Division I to go undefeated in the fall season. Drexel started the run with a win at the Temple Invitational and followed that up with a victory at the J.T. Poston Invitational in Sapphire, N.C. The Dragons returned home to win their fourth straight City 6 Championship and ended the fall with a win at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. In the spring, the Dragons added their record fifth win of the season by winning the Dragon Match Play Invitational. They also had second-place finishes at The Peoples Championship in Georgia and the Monument Golf Oldfield Invitational in South Carolina. Drue Nicholas was once again named Second Team All-CAA.
During the 2022-23 season, the Dragons secured two team victories bringing Feld’s career total tournament wins to 14. In their win at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, Feld’s team beat 48th ranked UNC-Greensboro, notching their second ever win over a top-50 ranked program. The team also added its third consecutive victory at the City 6 Championship. Two of his student-athletes were named to the PING All-Region team and he had one student-athlete named to the CAA’s First Team and another named to the Second Team. Drexel finished third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship for the second straight year.
The Dragons won three events during the 2021-22 year and placed third at the CAA Championship. Two of his student-athletes were named to the PING All-Region Team and to the CAA's Second Team, in addition to once again having a player on the CAA's All-Tournament team. Drexel played one of its most competitive schedules during the 2021-22 season. That included trips to the Golfweek Fall Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico and The Goodwin hosted by Stanford, among others. The Dragons posted victories at the Wildcat Invitational, the City Six Invitational and the Columbia Spring Invitational. At the Dorado Beach Collegiate, Feld's squad finished the 54-hole event in second place overall in an extremely competitive field with a school record of 25-under par. The Dragons fired a school mark of 15-under par in the final round, which was four shots better than any other team in the field.
During the previous season, the Dragons closed the year on a high note, finishing in second place overall at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships held at Dataw. The second-place finish was the best finish in the history of the program. In addition, the Dragons had two players named to the All-Tournament team for the first time. Earlier in the season, Drexel was victorious in the Don Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
The Dragons were off to an outstanding start during the 2019-20 season before the year was canceled after one event in the spring due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Feld's squad picked up victories in both the Dartmouth Invitational and the City Six Championship during the fall. Drexel also finished in the top five in three of its four other tournaments during the fall season.
Drexel had one of its finest seasons in 2018-19. Feld's team defended its title at the Wildcat Invitational and finished second on three other occasions. The Dragons had five other top five finishes in events that had at least 12 teams. Feld's team had an impressive showing at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Seattle University at Chambers Bay. Drexel finished fourth out of 18 teams behind only UCLA, Fresno State and Oregon State. The Dragons had five CAA Player of the Week honors during the season. Two of Feld's student-athletes, Connor Schmidt and Michael Cook, each qualified for the U.S. Amateur, the first time Drexel has ever put two competitors in the Amateur.
In 2017-18, he led the Dragons to a third place finish at the CAA Championships. It was the best finish ever for a Drexel team at the Championships at that time. The Dragons finished just five strokes out of first place. Drexel won three matches during the year, which tied them for the most ever in one season. Feld's team picked up fall victories at the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge in Vermont as well as the City 6 Championship at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale. Drexel also won the Wildcat Invitational at White Manor two weeks before heading to the CAA Championships. At the conference championship, both Aaron Fricke and Connor Schmidt were named to the CAA All-Tournament Team. Fricke was a Second Team All-CAA selection and was an All-Region pick as well.
Feld's squad won the 2016 Explorer Match Play Championship in the fall. The team set a Drexel school record by shooting 11-under-par in a 36-hole event at the Matthews Collegiate Invitational, where the Dragons tied for the top spot.
