Matthew Owyang is in his first season with Drexel Crew after serving as an Intern Coach for Yale Heavyweight Rowing last season. Owyang assisted the freshmen heavyweight boat that captured first place at the Belly of the Carnegie Regatta. In the spring of 2008, he led the boat to an undefeated dual season while placing third at the Eastern Sprints.

A graduate of Trinity College in 2007, Owyang coxed all four of his years at the school, including his final two with the varsity eight boat. As a coxswain, he won four New England Championships, two ECAC National Invitational Championships and the Head of the Charles in the Collegiate Eight.
