Desmond Pleasant returned to Drexel as an assistant coach for the wrestling program in September of 2026. Pleasant is a one-time NCAA qualifer and two-time EIWA podium finisher with the Dragons.
Pleasant spent five seasons with the Drexel wrestling team at 125 pounds. The Piscataway, N.J., native recorded 68 career wins, including 24 victories last season and a 13-5 mark in dual action. Pleasant was a two-time podium finisher at the EIWA Championships, earning a career-best third-place finish last season after securing two late-round victories. He qualified for his first NCAA Championships a season ago, defeating the PAC-12 Champion in the tournament. The lightweight is also a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American.
The 125-pounder has served as a volunteer mentor for Beat the Streets in Philadelphia, a sports-based development nonprofit that uses wrestling to empower youth in underserved and at-risk communities. He also has experience as a camp counselor for the Drexel Wrestling Camp.
Pleasant earned his bachelor’s degree in health sciences and his master’s degree in sports business from Drexel University.
