Kayla Bacon, a formmer Drexel captain begins her fourth year on staff and her third as an assistant coach with the Dragons.

In 2025-26, Drexel posted its 12th consecutive winning season, finishing 21-10 and posting a 13-5 mark in CAA play. Drexel was powered by one of the league's top offensive players in First Team All-CAA selection Amaris Baker. Baker averaged 19.1 points per game, ranking second in the conference and among the nation's scoring leaders, while reaching double figures in 28 of the Dragons' 31 contests. Junior Deja Evans earned CAA All-Defensive Team honors after helping anchor one of the conference's premier defensive units. Evans contributed 9.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while continuing her ascent in the Drexel record book with 109 career blocks, moving into fourth place on the program's all-time list. Junior Laine McGurk was also recognized with All-CAA Second Team honors following a breakout season in which she averaged 12.6 points per game and emerged as a key scoring threat alongside Baker. The Dragons advanced to the CAA semifinals before earning an at-large bid to the WNIT, marking the program's fifth postseason appearance in the last six seasons.

In 2024-25, the Dragons finished 17-13, tying for third in conference play. Bacon helped develop First Team All-CAA honoree, Amaris Baker, who finished the season leading the CAA with 17.1 points per game. On Nov. 13, the Dragons defeated La Salle on Nov. 13, 73-40 to earn the program its first victory as members of the Philadelphia Big 5. The home game was one of the 12 home games that Drexel won during the season, marking a 12-2 record inside the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

In 2023-24, Bacon helped guide the Dragons to their third CAA Title after completing a seven-game win streak to end the season. In part, Drexel pushed its postseason streak to 10 straight years. The Dragons completed its historic run by defeating No. 10 Delaware in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals, where they would have a postseason rematch, with the No. 2 Monmouth Hawks defeating them, 58-56, to earn a spot in the conference semifinals against Towson. In the semis, Drexel hit a buzzer-beater with three seconds remaining to down the Tigers and face the top-seeded Stony Brook. The Dragons defeated the Seawolves 68-60. Drexel entered the NCAA Tournament as the 16^th seed and played the top-ranked Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas.

In her first season on the Dragons’ bench, Drexel posted its sixth consecutive full season with 20 or more wins and went to their ninth consecutive national postseason tournament while multiple players earned All-Conference and national honors.

A native of Owings Mills, Md., Bacon was a team captain for the Dragons and appeared in 101 games in her career from 2018-21. She scored in double figures three times as a senior and was a key member of the Dragons' run to the 2021 CAA Championship, averaging better than 27 minutes per game during the tournament.

She was also a founding member of the Black Student-Athlete Union and has been recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association for her efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion.
