DeSanto started strong at 133 pounds with a win-by-fall over Appalachian State's Codi Russell. He followed with a technical fall over Northwestern's Anthony Rubinetti to advance to the semifinals. The rookie moved on to the finals after receiving a medical forfeit from Corey Keener of Penn State, where he won by major decision over Eastern Michigan's Noah Gonser to clinch the first tournament title of his young career.
