Drexel University Athletics
Sam Cozen Court is the vibrant heart of the Daskalakis Athletic Center’s main gym at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Named in honor of Sam Cozen in January 2005, the winningest coach in Drexel Men’s Basketball history. With a 213-94 record from 1952 until 1968, and 11 conference titles to show for it. This polished hardwood floor serves as the home venue for Drexel Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs, along with the Drexel Wrestling program.
Cozen Court lies within the Daskalakis Athletic Center (DAC), an over 2,500 multi-tiered seated venue originally constructed in 1975, with extensive renovations in the 2010s. With bigger renovations in 2022, including LED lighting, a new Daktronics center-hung scoreboard, an enhanced audio system, and improved seating.
Cozen Court is a dynamic hub for both athletic and competitive sports and community events. Including National Invitation Tournament games, college tournaments, university new student open houses, BIG 5 matchups, and other community-based events. Along with other notable events, including the 2023 and 2024 The Basketball Tournament Championships, the US Open of Squash, WWE Tryouts, and other major events.
Sam Cozen Court embodies Drexel pride and stands as a centerpiece for student life and Philadelphia sports culture.
