Al Laverson

Al Laverson was one of the longest tenured coaches in Drexel history. He was a member of the Drexel Athletic Department for more than 45 years which spanned the term of nine U.S. Presidents.
Laverson was the men’s tennis coach for 32 years. He also served as an assistant soccer coach at Drexel for more than 30 years. Laverson was an assistant under Drexel Hall of Fame coach Don Yonker for 29 years and for another 14 seasons under Johnson Bowie.
During his undergraduate days at Temple University, Laverson was a three-year letterwinner who was named an All-America. He also played in the Maccabian Games in Israel and played professionally with the Philadelphia Americans.
