Philadelphia, Pa. – A skillfully lofted shot from the foot of senior #Stacey Blevins# found the net in the 47th minute of play to give Drexel (4-7-1, 1-4 CAA) its first conference win of the season, 1-0 over Towson (5-6-1, 1-4 CAA), and solidify Blevins' place among the Dragons' all-time great women's soccer players.

After a first half that saw most play in a hotly contested midfield, the Dragons broke through for the only score of the match just under two minutes into the second period. Sisters Heatherrae and #Sherriann Steadman# quickly worked the ball from the left sideline to the middle of the penalty box, catching the Tigers' defense in transition. Blevins lifted the ball with side spin toward the far side of the goal. The ball cleared the goalie and dove into the upper left corner of the net to put Drexel on the board.

Blevins' goal, her first of the season, was the 15th in her Drexel career. She is fourth on Drexel's all-time list. The tally gave her 38 career points, also good enough for fourth-place all-time. Blevins is the eighth different Dragon to register a goal this season.

Drexel's defense did not break in the final half of the game, disrupting the Towson attack enough to keep the Tigers out of rhythm and prevent them from scoring the equalizer. #Kaitlin Bond# recorded one save and broke up a number of dangerous crosses in the box to preserve her third shutout of the season.

The Dragons outshot Towson 4-2 on the match and the teams both earned one corner kick. Towson's keeper Brandi Daniels made five saves in the loss.
Drexel returns to Vidas Field on Sunday, Oct. 8 to face George Mason at 2:00 p.m.
