Philadelphia – Drexel freshman Kim Chiarelli (Bridgeton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) scored the only goal of the game late in the first half as Drexel defeated Northeastern on Senior Day at Vidas Field, 1-0. The win improved Drexel's record to 6-8-3 overall and 2-6-2 in the conference.
Chiarelli lofted a corner kick towards the far corner of the net. Her shot went through a crowd of heads and deflected off Northeastern goalkeeper Annie Petrofsky into the net with just 3:01 remaining in the first half.
Drexel senior Kate Hartman (Bensalem, Pa./William Penn) started for the first time this season in goal and combined on a shutout with Kaitlin Bond (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) into the lower left corner of the net. Both keepers had a save in the game. The Dragons outshot the Huskies, 13-9, and had 10 corner kicks to just five for the Huskies. Petrofsky made six saves in goal for Northeastern.
The game marked the final home appearance for seniors Kelly McNamara (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), Hartman (Bensalem, Pa./William Penn), Athena Yiantsos (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern), Kimberly Kabernagel (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan) and Christine Murta (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West).
