
Dragons Finish in Eighth Place at CAA Championships

The Drexel golf team concluded the 2006-07 season with an eighth place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship. The tournament was played at The Cascades at The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va.
The Dragons finished the three-day event at 910. They shot their best round of the tournament on Sunday with a 297. Sophomore Sean Semenetz (Tyler Hill, Pa./Sullivan West (N.Y.) fired a one-under-par 69 on the final day which moved him into a tie for 21st place overall. Jack Wallace (Beverly, N.J./Rancocas Valley) was 26th overall at 225. Wallace opened the tournament with an even-par 70 on Friday afternoon.
The 54-hole event was won by Old Dominion. The Monarchs fired an 859, four strokes ahead of Georgia State. VCU placed third at 872.
Old Dominion freshman John Murphy won medalist honors, completing the tournament with an ever-par score of 210. Georgia State junior Joel Sjoholm, ODU freshman Eric Onesi, the 2007 CAA Rookie of the Year, and VCU senior Jens Fahrbring were tied for second at 4-over par 214.
