Philadelphia – Delaware scored the game's only goal early in the second half as the Blue Hens defeated Drexel on Senior Night, 1-0. With the loss, the Dragons ended their season with a 7-11-1 record. The Blue Hens are now 7-10-1.
Delaware got on the board first when Alli D'Amico floated a shot from outside the box in the early minutes of the second half. The ball sailed past Drexel goalkeeper Kaitlin Bond into the upper left corner to give the Blue Hens what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Drexel appeared to take a 1-0 lead in the first half, but a goal was disallowed. Senior Aleka Yiantsos put home a rebound, but the play was nullified when the referee said a Dragon committed a hand ball violation.
The Dragons outshout Delaware, 10-8. Bond and Annie Bevan, the Delaware keeper, each had a pair of saves. It marked the final home game for Drexel seniors Bond, Cynthia Ditaranto, Maria Ferrato, Lauren Steins and Yiantsos. All five started the game for Coache Goon's squad. Bond and Yiantsos will go down in Drexel history as two of the most decorated players at their positions. Bond holds almost every school career goalkeeping record, including wins, shutouts and goals against average. Yiantsos had 20 goals, 20 assists and 60 points in her career, all school records.
