Four Dragons Advance to Semifinals in CAA Championships

Hempstead, N.Y. - Four Drexel wrestlers have qualified for the semifinals by winning their quarterfinal matches at the 2008 CAA Championships. The top two in each of the 10 weight division will earn automatic berths into the NCAA Championships. Steve Mytych at 125 pounds, Ryan Hluschak at 157 pounds, Billy Haydt at 165 pounds and Justin Wieller at 184 pounds are just two wins away from CAA titles.
Mytych won his quarterfinal match by major decision over Tyler Maimberg of Binghamton, 12-3 and will now face Dave Tomasette of Hofstra. Hluschak pinned opponent Carlo Ferrandino of Boston at 4:55 to advance to the semifinals where he'll face Nate Patterson of Binghamton. Haydt outdueled A.J. Detwiler, 8-6, in a sudden victory triumph and will now face top-seeded Chris Brown of Old Dominion. Wieller shut out Rick Eichenlaub of Sacred Heart, 3-0, to earn a semifinal match-up with top seed Doug Umbehauer of Rider.
The semifinals will begin at noon on Saturday, March 8.
