Hluschak and Mytych Earn Spots in the 2008 NCAA Championships

Hempstead, N.Y. - Competition wrapped up at the 2008 CAA Championships as a pair of Dragons claimed berths in the National Championships in St. Louis. Senior Ryan Hluschak earned second place at 157 pounds while Steve Mytych placed third at 125 pounds. Hluschak's runner-up finish secured his berth while Mytych was a wild card selection to the NCAA's. It will be the third appearance for each at the National Championships. As a team, Drexel took fifth place behind conference champion Hofstra, Old Dominion, Rider and George Mason.
Hluschak used a pair of wins by fall to secure his spot in the 157-pound final. He dropped a tough 8-7 decision to Hofstra's Jonny Bonilla-Bowman as the senior settled for second place. Mytych lost to Dave Tomasette in the semi-finals but won his third-place match and was selected as one of four wild card entries from the CAA to compete in St. Louis. The top two place finishers in each of the 10 weight classes earned automatic berths.
