Drexel's Andrew Lawson accomplished the elusive feat of a hole-in-one in the final round of the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Championship. Lawson recorded the ace on the 12th hole, a 186-yard, par 3. It was the only hole-in-one recorded at this year's conference championship. Lawson led the team with a two-over par 74 today. The other Dragons struggled in the final round as Trevor Sahn had the next-best score in the third round at 79 while Sean Semenetz and Mike Carr each carded 81's. Andy Frank posted a 10-over par 82. The Dragons finished ninth ahead of Towson and Hofstra.
Lawson was opened his round on hole 10 with a bogey. He quickly rebounded with a birdie on the par 5, 546-yard 11th hole. He followed with his ace to move to two-under par but took three bogeys over the final six holes of the back nine to record a 37. He played solid golf on the front with two bogeys and a birdie to finish with his best round of the tournament.
Sahn picked up an early birdie on his second hole, the par 5 11th hole. He closed out the back with bogeys on 12, 14 and 18 to take a two-over 38 on his first nine holes. He seemed poised to put a top notch round but took a double bogey on the sixth hole and a triple bogey on his final hole, a par 4, to finish at seven-over par for the day. Semenetz had a rough start as he took three bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey in his first nine holes. A birdie on 13 brought his score to seven-over par as he begin the front nine. Carr also had a triple bogey mar his round as he took an eight on the 15th hole en route to a 41 on his first nine holes.
