Women's Soccer Defeated by Northeastern, 4-1

Philadelphia – Northeastern scored four times in the second half and defeated Drexel in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams, 4-1. The Huskies scored three times in a span of just over four minutes late in the game to earn the win.
Northeastern pressured Drexel early in the second half. The Huskies ripped off four shots in the first ten minutes and got on the board when Kristen Blake stole an attempted clear and fired shot into the lower left corner from the top of the box. The game remained tied until the 82nd minute when Devin Petta put home a pass from Gretta Samuelsdottir to put the Huskies ahead for good at 2-1. It was the first of three goals for Petta, all coming in a span of four minutes and four seconds. Lesley Condie assisted on Petta's second goal and Gabbi Jetkola was credited with an assist on the final goal.
Drexel played well in the first half and for the most part controlled the pace of play. The Dragons settled after some early Huskies' opportunities and got on the board first in the 16th minute. Jenna Lindsay fired a shot which was deflected by Northeastern goalkeeper Stephanie Gordon. The ball bounced out to Alex Vazquez who put it in the open net and gave the home team a 1-0 lead. Drexel outshot NU in the first half, 9-8.
Northeastern outshot the Dragons in the game, 23-15. Drexel's Nicole Sinclair picked up four saves. Gordon was solid in net for Northeastern and picked up seven saves. The Dragons head to Hempstead to face Hofstra on Sunday at 1 p.m.
