Dragons Visit Hofstra in Search of Their First CAA Road Win Tonight

Hempstead, N.Y. - Drexel plays the second contest in its three-game road swing tonight when the Dragons (8-6, 2-1) visit the Hofstra Pride (8-7, 1-2) for a 7:00 p.m. tip. Gabriela Marginean, who was recently named to the Midseason Top 20 List for the John R. Wooden Award, will look continue the dominant play that saw her pour in a season-high 33 points against Old Dominion in the Dragons' last game.
Hofstra picked up its first conference victory of the season on Sunday, 58-49 over Georgia State at home. The Pride made 12-of-18 shots in the second half while outscoring the Panthers 38-30.
Shante Evans and Candace Bellocchio led the Pride with 14 points apiece. The win snapped a four-game losing skid for Hofstra. Rookie forward Shante Evans is leading the team in scoring and
rebounding and is a two-time CAA Rookie of the Week. Evans has helped fill the void left by the transfer of 2009 CAA Rookie of Year Joelle Connelly who left the team before CAA play began.
The Dragons enter tonight's contest winners of three straight against Hofstra over the past two seasons. Drexel. who has yet to lose consecutive games this season, will be looking to bounce back after a 69-59 loss at Old Dominion on Sunday. The Dragons controlled play in the first half and 25-24 at halftime. In the second half Old Dominion did not have a field goal for the final 10 minutes of play, but knocked down 20-of-24 free throws during that span to pull out the victory. Drexel is currently tied for second place in the CAA with Towson, Delaware, James Madison and Old Dominion, all of whom share the Dragons' 2-1 league record.
