Washington, D.C. - Drexel wrestling dropped a non-conference midweek match to American, 40-6. The Dragons picked up victories from Shane Fenningham and Alex Rinaldi but were hampered without the team's two leaders in victories this season, Steve Mytych and Kyle Frey. The loss dipped the Dragons' record to 6-10 on the season.
The Eagles picked up a quick five points when No. 17 Jasen Borshoff earned a technical fall over Yi-Ming Law. The hosts tacked on four more with a major decision win at 133 pounds before Fenningham earned a 5-1 decision over Nick Pitas at 141 pounds. No. 12 Kyle Borshoff and No. 3 Steve Fittery both rolled in the 149 and 157 pound matches, respectively, until Rinaldi pulled out a 6-3 win over Tanner Shaffer at 165 pounds. American took the final four bouts, including a win by forfeit at heavyweight that inflated the Eagles score by six points.
Drexel returns to action on Friday, Feb. 5 when the Dragons travel to Providence, R.I. to face Brown at 3:00 p.m.
