Sommer Leads Dragons with First-Place Finish at Body Bar Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. – Drexel had four wrestlers advance through the preliminary round to the second round of action with rookie Austin Sommer leading the pack as he took the final match at 149 pounds to finish first at the Cornell Body Bar Invitational.
Sommer went a perfect 4-0 on his way to a first-place finish that included one major decision and one sudden victory. In the final match, Sommer defeated Ithaca's Blaine Woszczak with a close fought 5-3 decision. On his way to the first-place finish, Sommer Alex Smith from Army in a sudden victory and Dalton Cunningham from Lock Haven with a 10-0 major decision. Sommer also wrestled fellow teammate John McDermott earning a close 5-2 victory.
Alex Rinaldi went 2-2 at 165 pounds defeating Zach Moran of Scared Heart with an impressive 19-7 major decision and Colton Spade of Lock Haven by forfeit.
Frank Cimato, at 133 pounds, also went 2-2 on the day. Cimato earned an 8-2 decision over Connor David of Cornell and a 10-1 major decision over Anthony Ricco of Sacred Heart. Then, in the consolation match, Cimato finished sixth with a 9-8 decision over Clarion's Joe Waltko.
Shawn Fausey also made it to the second round going 2-2. Fausey earned a tight 4-3 decision over Cornell's Michael Alexander then, in an inter-squad match, took down teammate Rob Brooks, 8-0.
Over-all, Drexel finished 10 of 11 with 33 team points.
The Dragons will be back in action Friday and Saturday December 3 and 4, as they compete in the Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.
