Dragons Open Five-Game Road Swing at Princeton Tonight

Princeton, N.J. - After winning six of their first seven games in the City of Brotherly Love to open the season, the Dragons will begin a five-game road odyssey tonight when they face the Princeton Tigers (7-2) at Jadwin Gym. Princeton is off to a strong start this season led by 2010 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Niveen Rasheed. They are ranked No. 4 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll and received two votes in the Associated Press Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll this week. Drexel is coming off a convincing 66-43 win over an Anne Donovan-led Seton Hall team at the DAC last Sunday. Kamile Nacickaite's 15 points led four Dragons in double figures. Tyler Hall put together her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go with a career-high five assists and three steals. The Dragons pulled down 41 rebounds in their best effort of the season on the boards. It was the team's second win of the season against a Big East opponent, and the third victory for the Dragons by 20 points or more.
Princeton defeated Lafayette 90-58 on Tuesday to improve to 7-2 on the season. The Tigers' only losses are against quality opponents in Rutgers and Vanderbilt. First Team All-Ivy and Rookie of the Year selection Niveen Rasheed is leading the team in scoring (18.0), rebounds (7.6), assists (3.1) and steals (2.2). Rasheed poured in 27 points against the Dragons in a 66-49 win at the DAC. Rasheed is complemented in double-figure scoring by Second Team All-Ivy Leaguers Devona Allgood and Addie Micir.
The Tigers lead the all-time series against Drexel 5-1. The Dragons' only victory over Princeton came in the teams' first meeting on Dec. 15, 1984, a 55-48 win at home.
Drexel will travel to play at Penn State next Tuesday before heading to San Diego to participate in the San Diego State Surf N' Slam Tournament on Dec. 28 and Dec. 30. The Dragons will play their first CAA game of the season at UNC Wilmington on Jan. 2 before returning to the DAC to face Georgia State on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011.
