Dragons To Face Georgia State in Atlanta Tonight

Atlanta, Ga. - With a first-round bye in the CAA Tournament within reach, Drexel (17-9, 11-4) travels to play at Georgia State in a 6:00 p.m. contest on Thursday. The Panthers (13-13, 4-11) are on a three-game losing skid and the Dragons are looking to bounce back from a one-point overtime loss to Hofstra last Sunday.
Led by Midseason Naismith Trophy candidate Gabriela Marginean, the Dragons can sew up a first-round tournament bye and a top four finish with a win over the Panthers. Drexel is currently tied for second place with Virginia Commonwealth at 11-4 in CAA play. Marginean's 31-point, 13-rebound performance went for naught as the Dragons fell 68-67 in overtime to the Pride on Sunday.
Georgia State has been plagued by injuries this season. The Panthers' leading scorer Danyiell McKeller was recently sidelined with a leg injury, joining Chan Harris and Jylisa Williams as three of the team's opening day starters who are no longer suiting up for the Panthers. All-Rookie guard Crystal Johnson is one of the CAA's top assist mavens and is also leading the league in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Drexel is 6-1 against Georgia State all-time and the Dragons have won five straight over the Panthers including a 72-53 victory in Atlanta last season. The contest tips at 6:00 p.m. in the GSU Sports Arena.
