Philadelphia - The Drexel men's basketball team will face George Mason at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game is scheduled to start on time, and due to snowfall, admission will be free. Fans who have already purchased their tickets can use them at the Drexel-UNC Wilmington game on Feb. 24.
George Mason enters the game in a three-way tie for the top spot in the Colonial Athletic Association with Old Dominion and Northeastern at 10-2. The Patriots are 15-7 overall. Drexel is just two games back with a 9-4 conference mark and a 13-11 overall record.
Drexel and George Mason will be meeting for the 18th time todaay. The Patriots lead the series, 12-5. George Mason has won four straight games in the series, including both meetings last season. The Patriots won both of those games by a single point.
In the first meeting at the DAC, Evan Neisler's jump shot bounced off the rim as Mason survived a Drexel comeback and escaped with a 56-55 win. The Patriots led by as many as 17 in the second half and seven with 47 seconds to play before the Dragons cut it to one and had the last possession of the game. In the rematch in Fairfax, Leon Spencer's short turnaround jump shot bounced off the rim as time expired to give George Mason a 49-48 victory. Scott Rodgers drove to the lane but had the ball knocked away. Spencer picked up the loose ball but his shot would not fall as the Patriots defeated the Dragons by a point for the second time. Neisler finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and was 4-for-5 from the floor. Rodgers added 12 points and was the only other Dragon in double figures. Monroe led George Mason with 15 points and nine rebounds.
