
Dragons Open Men's Rowing Spring Season with Solid Showing on Schuylkill

Philadelphia - Drexel men's crew posted a strong first showing on the water for the spring season as the Dragons' raced La Salle on the Schuylkill River. The men's varsity eight, in the Annette Pennoni, finished second while the novice eight, racing in the second varsity eight race took second to the Dragons' second varsity eight who claimed first. Due to adverse weather, eights were the only boats on the water for the dual.
Coxswain Steve Matyas guided stroke Filip Topalovic, Gregg Francis, Aleksander Radovic, Pat McGann, Marty Khait, Lorenzo Albala, Anthony Fittipaldi and bow Jacob Sloan took second while the Dragons' "B" second varsity eight also competed in the race and took third. The "B" boat featured coxswain Matt Weston, stroke Ernesto Del Valle, Peter Schmidt, Kevin Rorabaugh, Chris Hillenbrand, Dylan Sigfried, Kameron Palagi, Andrew Burns and bow Peter Eyrich in the Joseph Greipp boat.
Drexel's men's novice eight, in the Peggy Greenawalt, competed against experienced rowers with coxswain Justin Malley, stroke Kurt Linton, Justin Browne, Tim Drake, Rylan Treffinger, John Kile, Paul Wisniowski, Zach Antunes and bow Adam Cordi representing the Dragons. The Dragons' "B" squad in second varsity eight racing topped the Peggy Greenawalt with coxswain Michelle Lehmann, stroke Nick Buyse, Kyle Fabel, Mike Golden, Mike Gartland, Brian Timlin, Will Masters, Liam O'Neill and bow Greg Pierce crossed the line first in the Vince Vidas boat.
