Drexel Takes Down Hawks in Dual Tennis Match

Philadelphia - Both Drexel's men's and women's tennis teams registered 6-1 victories over city rival Saint Joseph's. The Drexel women (7-4) won five of six singles matches and swept doubles to earn an addition team point. On the men's side, Drexel (5-6) also took five of six singles matches with two going to three sets, and won two of the three in doubles play for the dominant victory.

Emma Brook came up with a big 7-5 win in the first set against Nicole Esposito before shutting out the Hawk 6-0 in the second frame. Zineb Hilali and Sonja Stosic set the tone for Drexel at first doubles with an 8-2 win and both of the Dragons' other pairings followed suit by making short work of their Saint Joseph's counterparts.

Nikoloz Kurdadze continued his success at first singles for the Drexel men. He came from back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to put down Alex Veronis 7-5, 6-0 in the next two and win a crucial match for the Dragons. Mehdi Rhazali also came from behind after dropping the first set to beat Nick Tuxen 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 and win at third singles.

The Drexel women will be back in action when the host Towson this Saturday at noon. The men will next take the court at George Mason on April 7.
