Women's Varsity Eight Takes Fourth in Grand Final at Knecht Cup Regatta

Camden, N.J. - Drexel women's crew sent two boats to the grand finals in the second day of racing on the Cooper River in the Knecht Cup Regatta. The women's varsity eight took fourth while the second varsity eight claimed third. The race was the final tune-up before next weekend's Drexel-hosted Kerr Cup Regatta.
Drexel's women's varsity eight with coxswain Cate Khella, stroke Candice Webb, Dana Haneman, Julia Jackson, Mallory Sykes, Juliana DeMarici, Emily Coyle, Casondra Clawson and bow Mary Kain finished in fourth place by crossing the finish line at 6:40.72 behind Duke, Buffalo and Temple. The Dragons' time was just 0.15 seconds behind Temple for third place.
The Drexel women's second varsity eight in the Marlene Buckley boat with coxswain Alex Paulin, stroke Natasha Martines, Mollie Cusack, Alexa Antonioli, Jami Ruane, Colleen Owens, Samantha Cowan, Megan Bush and bow Asiya Mahmud claimed third place with a time of 6:58.63 behind Buffalo and UMass but ahead of Duke, Rutgers and Temple.
