Philadelphia - Drexel men's soccer is on the road at Bucknell tonight to put the wraps on its 2010 non-conference schedule. The Dragons are looking to bounce back from losses at South Florida and William & Mary in the last game of a four-match road swing. Opening kick is set for 7:00 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa. Fans can follow the game via livestats by clicking here.
Drexel is looking to regain the form that led the Dragons to a 4-0 start on the season. The Dragons are 0-2-1 on their current road swing. While the Dragons scored late against William & Mary and had a number of high-percentage scoring opportunities in the second half, it was not enough to recover from a 2-0 deficit.
Rookie midfielder Ken Tribbett has been playing well for the squad in the middle. In addition to solidifying the midfield unit, Tribbett has contributed two goals on the season, including the Dragons' lone score against the Tribe on Saturday. Newcomer Pentti Pussinen has established himself in net for Drexel. After alternating starts with sophomore Tim Washam to start the season, Pussinen has been the team's starting keeper in each of the last four matches. Pussinen has made 15 saves on the season and has an 0.96 goals against average coming into tonight's match.
Bucknell, the 2009 Patriot League champion, returns home after playing seven of its first eight matches on the road. Bucknell showed well early in the season, knocking off No. 15 Penn State 2-1, but the road-weary Bison have lost their last four matches and have been outscored 11-3 coming into this week's homestand. Ross Liberati leads Bucknell with three goals and an assist on the season and senior Tommy McCabe has distributed a team-leading four assists.
The former East Coast Conference rivals from 1985-89 last met in 1992, when the Dragons won 1-0 at home. Drexel lost to Bucknell in its last visit to Lewisburg, 1-0, in 1991. The Dragons are 9-6-2 all-time against the Bison. Head Coch Doug Hess served as an assistant coach at Bucknell in 1999 under Head Coach Brendan Nash.
