Philadelphia - The Drexel men's and women's swimming and diving teams renew their rivalries with Delaware this weekend in the Drexel Pool at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons will host the Blue Hens on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. on Drexel's Senior Day. The women's team will also be competing against Northeastern in a tri-meet.
Drexel men's and women's swimming and diving team enters the meet with the same 3-6 overall record. The Blue Hens men's team is 7-1 overall, 4-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Delaware's women's swimming and diving team is 6-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play. This meet will mark Drexel's first conference match-up of the season.
The Dragons can snap their losing streak against Delaware on Saturday. Delaware leads the series against Drexel. The Blue Hens have won the past four meetings, including a 180-114 victory last season against the men's team and a score of 212-81 over the women's team.
Drexel's Megan Halicek and Ian Jevnick will look to continue their success coming off victories on both boards in last weekend's competition against UMBC and Howard. Last season, Delaware fell short as Jevnick swept every event in the meet. Teammate, Sherif Madkour was the top finisher in the 200 breaststroke in the last dual meet against Delaware.
Drexel's women's swimming and diving team hasn't had a contest against Northeastern since the Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet hosted by James Madison in 2008. Northeastern topped the Dragons 270-77. The Huskies are coming off a 160-126 win over Massachusetts moving them to a 4-3 overall record.
Seniors Maria Coman, Jessica Csakai, Scott Bronsdon, Ian Jevnick, Brian Leung, Sherif, Madkour, Jesse McGrath, Matthew Tannenbaum, and Armagan Yavuz will be honored for their commitment to the Dragons swimming and diving program in a pre-match ceremony on Senior Day.
