Dragons Begin Spring Season at Penn on Saturday

Philadelphia - Drexel Men's Tennis returns to the court for the first time this spring with a dual match against Penn on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Dragons went 2-0 in dual matches this fall and All-CAA players Nikoloz Kurdadze and Manu Bajpai both had strong performances during the season that included good showings at the ITA Northeast Regional. The Quakers are coming off a strong fall season that saw Phil Law reach the ITA quarterfinals in singles play and Zach Katz and Ivan Turudic win a pair of doubles titles. Play begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Levy Tennis Pavilion.
Saturday's match is the latest in a growing rivalry in University City. The team's have played some tight matches recently. The Dragons fell to the Quakers 6-1 last season with Bryan Nguyen winning the team's lone point at fourth singles in a three-setter.
The Quakers will benefit from the return of first singles player Hicham Laalej to the lineup. Laalej, who is the younger brother of former Drexel stand-out Omar Laalej, was a First Team All-Ivy player before going down with an injury last season.
