Men's Squash Opens with 9-0 Victory at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Drexel squash can boast its first victory, as the men's team won its inaugural match on Thursday at Haverford, 9-0. Drexel dropped just one game during the entire match, easily handling the hosts as they prompted head coach John White to comment that their season got off to “a great start.”
Justin Singh topped the Dragons' ladder for their first match, and made short work of his opponent, Haverford's Alex Spiliotes, winning 11-2, 11-0, 11-3. Sebastian Dangond Gala played in the second spot, emerging with an 11-3, 11-6, 11-5 triumph.
Nick DiDonato played in the third position, knocking out Chris Tyson 11-5, 11-4, 11-6. Ben Bevan whitewashed Peter Boal in the first game, but dropped the second 11-8. He rebounded to close out Boal in four, however, 11-0, 8-11, 11-5, 11-3.
Harshil Dokania won 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 at No. 5. Vinayak Kalani took out Charlie Michele at No. 6, 11-8, 13-11, 11-5.
Playing at No. 7, Matt Schreffler dispatched Jonathan Nguyen with ease, 11-1, 11-4, 11-2. Robert Steidle earned a victory at No. 8, 11-3, 11-2, 11-2. At No. 9, Nakul Jain wrapped up the shutout by winning 11-0, 11-3, 11-4.
The Dragons will be back in action on Nov. 5, when they travel to Annapolis to take part in the Navy Round Robin.
