ODU Women's Soccer Holds Off Drexel, 1-0

The Drexel women's soccer team concluded its two match road trip with a 1-0 loss at Old Dominion on Sunday. The Dragons fell to 2-3-1 in CAA play at 4-7-3 overall. ODU, who came into the match tied with Drexel in the CAA, improved to 3-2-1 in conference play and 6-6-2 overall.
The Dragons had a chance to jump on the board in the early minutes of the match. Drexel had a corner kick and sent the ball towards the goal, where Andi Stampone's header went off the crossbar. The rebound was shot wide by Alyssa Findlay. A few minutes later, the Monarchs scored what proved to be the only goal of the match. Ashley Coutu took a cross from Lisa Bernadini and beat Drexel keeper Eve Badana to the right in the 10th minute. The Drexel defense played well for most of the match and held the Monarchs to just 13 shots. However, the offense managed just six shots, only one that ODU keeper Brianna Alvarado was forced to save.
Eve Badana played well in goal for Drexel despite the loss. She made two key saves in the first half and turned away a breakaway in the second half as she tried to keep the Dragons in the match. Badana finished with six saves on the day.
Drexel returns to Philadelphia for a pair of CAA matches next weekend.
The Dragons will face James Madison on Friday night and VCU on Sunday afternoon at Vidas Field.
