Women's Tennis Scores First Spring Victory, 6-1, Over Delaware State

Philadelphia - Drexel snapped a five-match losing streak in emphatic fashion, with a 6-1 victory over Delaware State (4-1). Led by Gozde Unkaya, Sonja Stosic, Zeynep Mafa, Emma Brook and Elise Leizerovich the Dragons (3-5) won five of six singles matches and swept doubles competition to earn six team points. The team is back in action on Sunday against Coppin State at 1:00 p.m.

Rookie Zeynep Mafa turned in one of the more dominating performances of the day, teaming with Sonja Stosic for an 8-3 win at first singles over Cristina Andrade and Marina Sicic, and winning in straight sets over Cristina Andrade at third singles. Mafa shutout Andrade 6-0 in the first set and closed out her seventh victory of the season with a 6-3 triumph in the second set.

Sonja Stosic recorded her 10th victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Polina Razhorova at second singles. And Gozde Unkaya turned in one of her best performances of the spring with a straight-set win over Anna Ratnikova at first singles.
