Philadelphia – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has recently recognized Drexel junior Kyle Bergman from the men's lacrosse team and senior Casondra Clawson from the women's crew team as All-American athletes for their training and conditioning performances during the past season of competition.
The men's lacrosse team finished its season with an 8-6 mark overall and 3-3 in the CAA. Bergman, who was recently named to the All-CAA Second Team, played in all 14 games for Drexel this season. He had his best statistical year as a Dragon in 2011, scoring 31 points to rank third on the team.
“Kyle is an extremely hard working and dedicated athlete. He makes every workout fun for all involved while giving a consistent 100%,” said Drexel's head strength coach Mike Rankin.
Clawson, a member of Drexel's women's varsity eight, helped her team to capture first place at the Lela Kerr Cup and the Varsity Eight Races. She was also a part of a second place boat at the Kelly Cup Regatta and a crew that placed third at the San Diego Crew Classic.
“Casondra is a self motivated, hard working and dedicated individual that has benefited from the weight room and countless hours on the water training,” Rankin said. “She is a role model to all of our athletes.”
The NSCA awarded 247 collegiate and high school athletes across 96 schools with this esteemed award. “The advantage of strength training and conditioning cannot be denied…these student-athletes attest to this understanding, and are to be applauded for their hard work and dedication.” Said Alan Kinniburgh, NSCA's Executive Director.
