PHILADELPHIA - Playing its first full dual match of the spring season, the Drexel women's tennis team made short work of St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, winning 4-0. Once Drexel earned the clinching fourth point, the match was ended due to time constraints.
Because of the time crunch, singles were played first instead of the traditional doubles matches. Playing at the top spot, Sonja Stosic dominated the first set, winning 6-0. She finished off the victory with a 6-3 decision in the second set. At No. 2, Zeynep Mafa defeated Lucy Jasso, grinding out a 7-6 (6) win in the first set before cruising to a 6-2 win in the second.
The No. 3 spot belonged to Marcela Rosales, who defeated Alexandra Sachs, 6-3, 6-2. Finally, the Dragons clinched the victory with Alex Bell's 6-1, 6-1 dispatching of Nuria Valls at No. 4.
Drexel will be back on the courts next Sunday, when they host Morgan State at the Armory at 10:00 a.m.
