Drexel Swimming and Diving Splits Meet At George Washington

Philadelphia - Drexel Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving split its meet this afternoon at George Washington. The men came out with the win, 136-124, while the women were just shy of victory, 135-114.
The men had a tight match at the half as they were only up by one point, but the team recharged for an amazing finish and won almost every remaining swim.
The men's team had some great wins, including first and second in the 200 medley relay to start the meet off strong. Members of the first place team included Joel Berryman, Chad Schmidt, Mike Krohn, and Alex Bagshaw, while the second place finishers included Kyle Lukens, Andrew Reimon, Alex Chialastri, and Mike Schaeffer. Berryman had a strong day as he won both back events and helped win the 200 medley relay that finished in a time of 1:36.09. Matt Klotz dropped 13 seconds in his 1000 free to finish in 10:04.42 and take the win. He continued his success by capturing the 500 free. Schmidt also continued the victories as he won both the 100 breast and 200 breast. Bagshaw captured his win in the 100 freestyle and Kyle lukens did the same in the 100 butterfly.
The women's team started and ended the meet off strong, winning both the 200 medley relay as well as the 400 freestyle. Members of the 200 medley team include Katie Duggan, Jess Gidzinski, Lauren Faykes, and Brianna Bentz. The 400 freestyle swimmers included Katie Duggan, Jackie Caruso, Tina DeRusso, and Kelly Trussell. Faykes had a great day as she won the 200 and 500 freestyle along with the 200 individual medley. DeRusso conquered the 200 butterfly with the fastest time of 2:16.86 and teammate Bentz stopped the 100 yard fly clock at 59.03 giving her the win as well.
The Dragons are back in the water on Saturday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m. as they take on Binghamton at Drexel Pool.
