St. Joseph's Defeats Dragons at the DAC, 63-49

Philadelphia, Pa. - Saint Joseph's went on an 13-0 run to end the first half and went on to defeat Drexel, 63-49, on New Year's Eve in the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Drexel, playing without starting forward Dartaye Ruffin who sustained an injury in practice this week, led 18-10 with 8: 32 to play after a three-pointer by Damion Lee. Drexel also played most of the first half without Frantz Massenat, who picked up his third foul with 12:29 to play in the half. The Hawks then answered with the 13-point run, keyed by C.J. Aiken who had six of his team-high 19 points during the run.
The Hawks opened up a 12-point lead early in the second half, but the Dragons chipped away and sliced the deficit to five at 41-36 after a Lee bucket followed by a Derrick Thomas lay-up. That was as close as the Dragons came the rest of the way as Saint Joseph's pulled away.
Damion Lee led the Dragons with 21 points. The sophomore was 9-for-20 from the field and had 12 of his points in the first half. He was the only Drexel player to reach double figures. Kazembe Abif added eight points, while Daryl McCoy scored seven points and had a game-high 12 rebounds in the loss. Goran Pantovic came off then bench and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in 16 minutes of play.
Aiken led the Hawks with 19 points and was 6-for-6 from the floor wand 5-for-5 from the line. He made a pair of three pointers and blocked six shots. Langston Galloway added 13 points and Carl Jones chipped in with 11. The Hawks shot 41 percent from the floor and held Drexel to just 37 percent shooting.
